I find myself constantly having to double-check the keyboard shortcuts for various actions in Second Life® - showing the advanced menu, hiding the UI, quitting Second Life® (just kidding on that last one).
With most applications I use, I prefer to use keyboard shortcuts because it saves time and it makes you look cool in front of your friends (kidding about that too). Keyboard shortcuts are definitely convenient though and provide access to often hidden functionality in an application normally reserved for power users only.
So my gift to you, fellow Second Life® Residents, is version 1.0 of my new project, a Second Life® Viewer Cheatsheet. It contains all the keyboard shortcuts of which I am currently aware.

Download the Second Life® Viewer cheatsheet - version 1.0 (PDF)
Please use and enjoy! If you find any errors, know of keyboard shortcuts I haven’t included, or have suggestions on how to make this resource better, please let me know!

Kippie,
What a gift! Thanks so much!! Now I can replace my handwritten list — as well as have it available for my friends with Macs.
It’s also perfect timing because I’d just realized I needed something like this for the guest speakers I bring into Second Life (an issue I just wrote about on my blog, coincidentally).
I’m also adding a link to this on my blog. So thanks very much!

Friendly greetings Kippie! Thx for emailing me about this, I know there’s been wishes for such a thing and partial attempts before, but it looks like you really stepped up here.
I got your note, and I’m going to have a closer look at this and let you know what I think… I’m also going to share it with fellow Lindens of intrigue, including our Documentation Team!
I appreciate the heads-up.

Wow, what a neat little reference! I’m putting a link to this page on SecondLinks.com now…
Oh, and Linden Lab says you only need to use the ® symbol the first time you mention Second Life or Linden Lab or what have you on a given page. Prior to that, Second Links had about 500 ® symbols on it.

Umm…
While chatting, you can use Ctrl-Enter instead of just Enter to shout instead of normal speech.
I think there once was an shortcut to whisper, but I can’t find it, maybe they removed it.

Hi.
Exelent work, thanks a lot!
There is one, that you might want to get in too. To get Advance when running Linux, you have to press ctrl+alt+shift+D
otherwize if you do as in Linux…… you just get your desktop
Took me a little while to find it out.
Thanks for taking the time to make this, and then even share it with us!

Hide UI … on a Linux system, CTRL ALT F1 doesn’t work. It switches you to a completely different workspace.

A not-well-known shortcut - which isn’t short at all ’cause afaik there is not long way to do this… display a prims face number: edit menu->select texture, click a prim face then Ctrl-Shft-Alt-t. This is the only way that I know to find the face # of a prim.

OH BLESS YOU!!!! *gives you a BIG BIG HUG* If you could only see all the little scraps of paper and “notes to myself” all over my desk about stuff and other things I can’t remember to do in SL! Now you have it all on one nice neat page for me! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! You have truly made my desk and my life less cluttered! TYTYTYTYTYTY!!!!!

Nice one here, I really do appreciate your effort.
My humble request - as a PC user - or call it a question;
Wouldn’t it be more readable if there were two sheets, one wth PC shortcuts only and one with Mac shortcuts only?
Personnaly I believe it would increase the readability quite a bit.

Generally a great resources - however, the Second Life Mac UI inaccuracies have crept in.

Very nice. You have one small typo — Beason instead of Beacon in “Beasons Always On”.

Great job, thanks! But the keys I use most often are not listed yet: CTRL-3 for edit and CTRL-4 for create. I think it is actually CTRL-1 through CTRL-5 for the diffrent modes of the edit window (can’t test it right now).

Thank you!
Here’s one I found by accident: In regular view, if you use the mouse wheel to scroll forward you will automatically go into mouselook. Then just scroll the wheel back to exit mouselook again. Very convenient!

Mac “Shortcuts” from SL sources have a lot of mistakes and I tried a few of yours from your list tonight and they have crept into your otherwise fine work.
I hope you find someone with a Mac who can create a newbie account with no money, land or inventory to try these out for you and let you know which ones don’t work! After the first few “surprises,” I feared for what would go missing and stopped playing with the list!!

kippie, what is the license on this documentation? I’d like to clip out a section of it and distribute it amongst my training group.
